*Tire comes prefilled with 60 psi of pressure. When handling take caution not to puncture or damage the tire. It is recommended to periodically check your spare tire pressure to maintain it for safe vehicle use*

First and foremost, THANK YOU for your purchase of our spare tire solution for your vehicle. As fellow car enthusiasts, we have put a great deal of time and energy into delivering a stellar product for your vehicle.
When using or installing the spare tire on your vehicle, please read entire instructions before beginning:
1. When changing a flat, it is best to do so on stable, level ground away from traffic.
2. Apply parking brake and chock wheels.
3. Consult vehicle owner’s manual for proper lifting/tire changing procedure.
4. Never place yourself or any part of your body under the vehicle while being raised or supported by a jack or lifting device when changing the tire.
5. Please note that the included wheel may be a dual PCD wheel, meaning that the wheel has two seperate bolt patterns, totaling 10 different bolt holes. Please align the 5 bolt holes of the wheel that match up with your vehicle’s bolt pattern.
6. Place the Modern Spare wheel and tire on the vehicle using the OEM lug nuts or lug bolts, unless your spare was shipped with an included set of lugs*.
*PLEASE NOTE – Your spare kit may include a new set of lug nuts or lug bolts packaged with the spare wheel and tire. If your kit includes these lug nuts or bolts, please mount the spare using the included nuts or bolts, as the factory lugs may be too large or of a different type for the spare.
If your spare includes a small plastic ring, when installing the spare, place this ring in the center hole on the backside of the spare. This ring will help align the lug holes and make installing the spare a much easier process.
7. Ensure that the lug/bolts nuts are tight and will not come loose (approximately 100-140 ft lbs, please check vehicle owners manual to confirm exact specs).
8. On most vehicles, when using a spare tire of any kind, you should turn off your traction control system if equipped while driving. Failure to do so may result in vehicle warning lights. Please consult your vehicle owner’s manual for complete instructions on changing traction control modes or deactivating these systems.
9. The tires used on all Modern Spare spare tire kits have a DOT “M” speed rating. The “M” speed rating designates that the tire is capable of traveling at a constant speed of up to 81 mph. Although the tire is built to this specification, many manufacturers recommend that the narrow space-saving tire is not to exceed 50 mph given the narrow size relative to the regular tires on your vehicle. This is good practice and you should always drive with caution when using a spare tire. Please avoid any speed above 50 mph and only as a means to escape heavy and fast-moving freeway traffic.
Please take caution when driving on a spare. Although it is capable of operating for a long distance it is designed to be used on a temporary basis and does not have the same traction or performance capability of a full size OEM wheel & tire. Should you have any questions regarding your spare tire, please contact us via our website or (801) 896-3395.

In this kit, you will find everything that you need to quickly and efficiently change a flat tire on your vehicle.
To use, please follow the below steps and read the full instructions prior to beginning:
1. When changing a flat, it is best to do so on stable, level ground away from traffic.
2. Apply parking brake and chock wheels.
3. Remove the kit contents from your vehicle. If your kit contains a carrying case, please remove the tire and wheel from the carrying case. Once the tire and wheel are removed, you will find a zipper pocket in the bottom of the case. Open the pocket to remove the lug wrench, scissor jack, and disposable tire bag.
4. Most vehicles have 4 different designated lifting points located by the rocker panels near each wheel. Essentially, it is an opening that allows access to the pinch weld lifting point and should be used to safely lift the vehicle. Prior to raising the vehicle loosen the lug nuts on the flat tire that you wish to change. Please align the jacking pad of the scissor jack with the jacking point closest to the tire that you are changing. Please consult owner’s manual prior to lifting vehicle for complete lifting instructions and/or specific vehicle lifting procedures. Please see example below:
Please ensure to align the slot on the top of the scissor jack pad with the pinch weld jacking point as shown. To achieve optimal jack stability, the full pinch weld jack point must be within the slot on the scissor jack pad. Failure to do so could place an uneven load on the jack resulting in jack failure.
In addition to these jack placement instructions please ensure that you use the scissor jack on level ground with the vehicle stabilized. Ensure that the vehicle is in park with the parking brake engaged prior to lifting. It is also recommended to chock the wheels to further stabilize the vehicle prior to lifting. Use only approved jacking points as found in your owner’s manual, with the scissor jack base being placed on level solid ground directly beneath the lifting point of the vehicle. Please also check your vehicle owner’s manual for any vehicle specific instructions prior to lifting.
5. Raise vehicle using the ratcheting scissor jack. The ratchet can operate in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction by using a small switch on the side of the ratchet. Do not place yourself or any part of your body under the vehicle while being raised or supported by the jack.
6. Completely remove the lug nuts and flat tire. Place flat tire in included disposable bag.
7. Please note that the included wheel may be a dual PCD wheel, meaning that the wheel has two seperate bolt patterns, totaling 10 different bolt holes. Please align the 5 bolt holes of the wheel that match up with your vehicle’s bolt pattern.

9. Ensure that the lug/bolts nuts are tight and will not come loose (approximately 100-140 ft lbs, please check vehicle owners manual to confirm exact specs).
10. Lower vehicle using ratcheting scissor jack, place flat tire and kit contents in your vehicle.

Your Honda Accord, Civic, or Insight will likely have room in the storage space under the trunk floor to place your spare tire. Your kit will include hardware to help secure the spare in place if you ordered the complete kit WITHOUT the optional carrying case.
The following instructions will make storing your spare a simple process.
Before you begin, locate two key items in your kit. You will need the large (24” X 24”), square padding material that came in your shipping box. Also, locate the hardware assembly with a threaded bolt and the large round black washer with two finger holes. See figure below:
Now follow these steps:
1. Open the trunk and lift the floor panel that covers the black or gray foam insert.
2. Remove the foam insert and set it outside the vehicle.
3. Locate and identify the threaded anchor point in the center of the circular storage area.
4. Lay the large square padding material down in the base of the trunk floor.
5. Tear a small hole in the padded material to gain access to the threaded anchor point.
6. Lay the spare tire and wheel combination face down in the trunk well with padded material underneath the spare.
7. Put the threaded hardware assembly through the middle of the wheel so that the bolt will thread into the threaded anchor point.
8. Continue to thread the hardware down until the black washer begins to snug down on the wheel hub.
9. Use the finger holes to tighten the assembly snuggly against the wheel until you are unable to tighten further.
The remaining items from your kit (jack, wrench set, etc) can be stored alongside the spare in positions that are best for your particular car model.
Some car models may need additional support for the trunk floor panel once this floor panel is back in place. This varies widely by model but Using a 1”-2” thick piece of foam padding can better support the floor panel if the spare does not support the floor as is.
