Given extensive anecdotal data on the Web about the propensity of the 7,000 lb Buzz for occasionally flatting its OEM Conti tires, I thought it would be sensible to bring along a spare tire on longer/more remote trips. Modern Spare seems like the best option. There’s is both the simplest (one tire that fits both front and rear even though the stock tires aren’t the same) and a true turn-key solution, with everything needed to change a tires packed into a single case.
The Modern Spare case, by the way, has Velcro strips on the back that integrate with the finish of the seat backs on the buzz and prevent the tire package from sliding around.
The strap guides in the Buzz to pull up the third row seats offer a coupe of appropriately-positioned mounting points for a strap to hold down the tire.
So all in all, this is an elegant solution for anyone who wants/needs a spare tire for an ID Buzz.
The tire, rim, case, jack and tools are all high quality. And Modern Spare staff are available to field questions. In my case, they were also super responsive with my need to have a tire delivered according to a tight window when I’d be in my place in the States.
Bottom line? I rate these guys at 10 out of 10, for the equipment design, material and build quality, and for their superb responsiveness.
