For a properly designed spare tire assembly, overall tire height (not wheel diameter) is the important measurement. The overall height of the tires on your vehicle will generally be consistent regardless of the factory wheel size. This allows Modern Spare to design an 18″ spare that is compatible with your vehicle model. *
*For the Toyota Sienna models, not all fitments will result in an exact match in overall tire diameter. Some Sienna owners have acquired interior panels from their Toyota parts dealer, which allows for a factory-style storage solution using the Modern Spare. The tire size used in this kit is safe for your Sienna drivetrain and has the proper dimensions required for this storage option.

Our Sienna did not come equipped with the factory spare tire option, and so, we began our research to find the best solution for our use. We originally thought of doing a factory retrofit for the OEM mounting points and utilize a factory donut, which is roughly 27″ rolling diameter. However, we have the AWD version, and although the two rear motors run independently, we still wanted to retain the same rolling diameter as the factory tires, and Modern Spare provided that solution. We ordered the complete kit with carrying case and are impressed by the design, and total finish of the product. It is large, and heavy, but slim so we’re able to store it in the rear cargo area with lots of room to spare. We have not had to use it yet as it’s intended purpose are for our long range road trips to remote areas. Is it costly? Yes, but the peace of mind with a quality product for safety is worth the price.
