Description
The Right Spare Tire Kit Engineered For Your 2020-2025 Hyundai Santa Fe, including Hybrids.
We guarantee the Modern Spare Complete Spare Tire kit to be the highest quality and best choice for your Santa Fe. Here is why:
To make your Modern Spare Kit incredibly simple to use, we designed an aluminum alloy wheel that is significantly lighter and more capable than a conventional steel counterpart. As a result, our spare design is easier to handle. The low weight improves your Santa Fe’s performance & fuel efficiency when compared to having a full-size spare option. Also, to maintain excellent standards of quality, our alloy wheel meets or exceeds all the latest DOT highway safety standards.
In addition, each spare wheel is equipped with a durable space-saving tire with a DOT “M” speed rating indicating the tire is tested for a constant speed of 81mph. While it is wise to limit your speed to 50mph as some tire manufacturers state, we have chosen these “M” speed-rated tires knowing the tire’s strength and capability exceed that of normal use. This ensures that the tire is durable and well-built.
This along with having the proper overall rolling diameter for your vehicle, will allow you to travel the needed distance to a repair shop you trust with your vehicle.
More importantly, many OEM or factory spare options from Hyundai are not designed for the larger performance brakes of the Santa Fe and other Hyundai models. Adequate performance brake clearance is just one of many unique design goals we achieve in every Modern Spare kit.
Better Tools-
To make our Spare Tire Kit better for your Santa Fe, we considered the frustrations that come with typical spare tire tools and accessories. As an example, most scissor jacks are frustrating to use and do not allow the needed leverage to easily lift your car. We solved this problem by developing a custom 4000 LB, low-profile scissor jack with a unique ratcheting handle mechanism. Furthermore, this handle provides the required leverage to easily lift your vehicle and lower it safely. If you find a stubborn or overtightened lug nut, our Modern Spare telescoping lug wrench provides nearly two feet of leverage. You’ll be able to easily remove and retighten your lug nuts to be quickly back on the road.
And something worth noting, modern vehicles have very specific lift points for proper jack placement. More importantly, your vehicle requires a specific jack type to properly lift the car. In other words, the type of head on the jack is critically important for proper use, whereas a typical generic or universal jack will simply not do. We design our scissor jacks in-house and specific to each make and model we support.
As a forethought, we included a full-size, thick plastic tire bag. Transporting a full-size flat tire and wheel can be messy. Therefore, placing the large plastic tire bag over the failed tire will help protect your car’s interior.
Our Goal-
By now, you’re aware of the missing spare tire in your Hyundai Santa Fe. Many carmakers are no longer providing this important lifesaver with much of their model lineup. Modern Spare wants to be the best manufacturer of complete spare tire kits hands-down. We have approached our Modern Spare designs from every angle. This ensures that our customers have the best user experience possible with the best product possible.
*The overall diameter of our spare tire and wheel combination is sized to be right and correct for your vehicle’s drivetrain. This is a critical design feature for proper function and use. As such, if your vehicle has an existing spare tire storage space, the spare may not fit in that space. Please consider our carrying case option as a convenient alternative.
*details on storage-
We recommend the kit option that includes the carrying/storage case. This will help keep the kit neatly stored in place while carried in the main cargo area. Since the spare tire kit is narrow, it does not occupy an unreasonable amount of space. The factory-supplied spare tire that Hyundai previously supplied was held underneath the vehicle. Models that do not have a spare included will likewise not have the lifting mechanism installed to keep a spare under the rear of the vehicle.

This review is relative specifically to a 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid Limited
Everything that came in the kit worked great: the wheel, the lug nuts, the jack, ratcheting wrench, etc. The only problems/issues (for which I deducted 1 review star) are:
1) The scissor jack has to be extended up to its utmost fullest/tallest height which just barely raises the car high enough off the ground to have enough clearance to slip on the spare tire (in my case in use, a rear tire). Next time I will place a small block of wood (like a scrap 2″ by 4″) between the jack and the ground, to give me the extra needed inch of lift (something I will need to pack into the kit). I struggled to to get the spare tire to align and slip onto the lug bolts because the spare tire was scraping/dragging the ground the whole time even with the jack extended to it’s highest limit. I think this is an issue because the Santa Fe Hybrid sits up higher off the ground than perhaps most cars the universal jack was designed for.
2) When you’re using the ratcheting wrench to raise the jack (the wrench works great), the problem is that as you’re raising the car, the scissor jack nut you’re turning with the ratchet wrench slowly draws further and further underneath the car, no longer extending out past the side of the car. Once you get about 50% of the way raised, there is no longer enough clearance to swing (move) the wrench the full 180-degree arc without the arm of the wrench now hitting the underside of the car. At that point you can only move the wrench in much smaller arc’s, which is a pain and time consuming. Luckily it’s a ratchet, so you don’t have to keep taking off and putting on the wrench over and over. What is needed (which I cannot find anywhere yet) is an extension tool to make the jack nut extend out from under car (away from the jack) another 3″-5″ or so, if you want to be able to use that ratcheting wrench as designed/intended.
Also, be aware that you will need to use the provided lug nuts and the lug nut socket that comes with the kit. The car wheel’s original lug nuts won’t fit into the spare wheel’s smaller lug nut openings.
The car drove perfectly fine without issue, once the spare was mounted.

Aaron, Your feedback is so helpful. Some Santa Fe models (depending on the trim levels and the wheel/tire options) may need more extension on the jack in order to adequately raise the tires. We have developed a jack riser that stabilizes the jack and raises it higher to avoid issues like you experienced. These risers are now included in all Sante Fe kits and we are shipping one out to you. Thank you again for your order. – Modern Spare
