When a carmaker eliminates a spare tire, they may also eliminate the space once used to store a spare.

That space is then freed up for additional passenger space, for placement of hybrid batteries and related components, or used as more practical cargo space.  

Many vehicles still have the original spare tire storage space as part of their design. If the Modern Spare kit can be stored properly there, the product detail page for your car model will indicate this. If so, we recommend choosing the kit option without the case.

For these vehicles, Modern Spare has designed our padded and reinforced carrying case to conveniently hold the entire spare tire kit without occupying much of your vehicle’s trunk or cargo space.   Although the spare is intended to be kept in the trunk or rear cargo area, adhering to our design goal of making your spare compact and lightweight ensures you are left with much of your original cargo space.
